Our Story: How it Started
Bongolala began as a bridge between two worlds - the vibrant artistry of Africa and the timeless charm of Lošinj. Founded by Petra, whose love for African design grew during her 34 years in Tanzania, the brand emerged from a passion for bold patterns, rich cultural influences, and handmade craftsmanship.
When Petra returned to Mali Lošinj, she brought this artistic inspiration with her, blending it with the island’s coastal charm. This fusion gave birth to Bongolala, a brand that embodies both heritage and creativity.
Today, Bongolala is known for its Lošinj Island Coordinates collection, alongside handcrafted clothing, home decor, and accessories. We collaborate with designers and artisans across Croatia and Africa, ensuring that every product is ethically made, limited-edition, and full of character.
The Meaning of Bongolala
At Bongolala, we believe that places hold stories, and the things we wear and surround ourselves with should reflect those connections. The name Bongolala is inspired by the Swahili proverb: "Haraka haraka haina baraka," meaning "Hurry, hurry has no blessings." This reminds us to slow down, be intentional, and create with purpose.
